Lead the Arts and Culture team to facilitate the delivery of arts and culture programs galleries and public art projects that contribute to social inclusion and build community capacity.
What youll be doing:
- Provide expert advice research and planning to position Councils strategic intent and role in arts and culture development for the municipality translating this work into strategic and policy documents.
- Support advocate and where applicable plan for the provision of arts and culture facilities across the municipality in conjunction with other key officers of Council and stakeholders.
- Identify and promote appropriate opportunities to residents business and community organisations that support the ongoing development of local arts and culture activity.
- Present proposals and recommendations to Council that will contribute to the enhancement of Councils art and culture activities.
- Establish strong partnerships with key stakeholders including artists and arts organisations community and business organisations other government and nongovernment agencies and schools to develop implement and support the delivery of arts and culture activities.
- Coordinate engagement with community groups to facilitate cultural capacity and expansion of arts and cultural practices and initiatives within Hume City.
- Guided by Councils core values lead and provide day to day management of the Arts and Culture team to deliver Council Plan and relevant strategy and action plan outcomes.
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in arts and culture development planning and coordination along with political acumen in a Local Government setting.
- Ability to act with sensitivity and respect with a broad range of arts and cultural practitioners with a broad range of experiences.
- Strong skills and sound understanding of capacity building within the arts and culture sector.
- Ability to promote local arts and cultural activities to engage and increase participation of residents business and community organisations.
- Highly developed skills in working with stakeholders with strong skills in providing support and resources to complement established skill sets of arts and culture groups.
- Highly developed skills in oral and written communication.
- Excellent written and oral skills and experience in the preparation of timely clear and concise reports project briefs funding submissions and correspondence.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in arts and cultural planning or similar field or lesser formal qualifications with experience and knowledge of arts and culture planning and community capacity building principles and practices.
- Current drivers licence
