Were looking for a Shipping Lead to join our dynamic team in a newly created role! In this exciting position youll be at the heart of managing and optimising our supply chain ensuring timely deliveries and solving logistical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee/lead a small team managing 23 people working across container booking shipping customs clearing and inbound planning/delivery scheduling. Annual container volume being managed is circa 10000 TEU.
- Coordinating wharf cartage contractors and shipping lines to plan for movement of containers from port to distribution centres.
- Able to coordinate with other teams (warehousing/despatch finance product suppliers) to manage the smooth movement of containers through DCs within capacity levels while meeting due dates to fulfil customer commitments and eliminating demurrage costs.
- Hold the daytoday relationship with wharf cartage contractors shipping lines and customs agent/forwarders.
- Producing internal reporting and forecasts to plan/project container volumes.
- Involvement in planning annual reviews with shipping lines developing forecasts by port pair and support in negotiations with shipping lines for annual contracts.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience in logistics and transport.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm especially during busy periods.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Open to feedback and eager to learn demonstrating a growth mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
