As a Release and Deployment Manager you will:
  • Orchestrate IT Releases across the VeVA Mission Network (MN) confederation the VeVA Core Federation and Allied Reaction Force (ARF) MN and other relevant actors ensuring that the Release Management Process/Directive is followed meticulously.
  • Provide support to the Service Delivery Managers on how to coordinate and communicate software releases and to the System Managers on how to plan the releases according to the given process or procedure attending to the operational conditions.
  • Ensure that the Release and Deployment processes are in place updated and fit for purpose ensuring that the relevant metrics are in place and contribute to measurement and reporting on satisfactory service performance.
  • Integrate Release and Deployment with the other relevant Service Operation and Service Transition processes and establish and actively maintain adequate interfaces.
  • Enforce process and standards and work to improve the process.
  • Collect data related to the relevant KPIs to contribute to satisfactory Service Delivery performance.
  • Develop and validate the deployment approach for services including defining the approach for managing business readiness services cutover golive support structure training escalation process and testing activities that are to be conducted as part of each deployment.
  • Ensure that the Release and Deployment process is adherent to the current accepted FMN Spiral Specification and that a set of solid FMN and interfaces with other Service Transition processes such as IT Change Management Service Asset and Configuration Management and Deployment Management are established and maintained.
  • Assure there is a solid link with NCI Agency Service Lines Service Operation and CSUs/sites for the release and deployment of all deployment packages for services systems software and hardware.
  • Assure there is a solid coordination path with VeVA Confederation HQs VeVA Core Mission Network Participants (MNPs) and ARF MNPs for the release and deployment of all deployment packages for services systems software and planning for Early Life Support and obsolescence.
  • Provide guidance on Service Outages plan and communication to the Service Delivery Manager.
  • Review the Release and Deployment plans and ensure their adherence to standards.
  • Participate in the Change Advisory Board to review and approve changes across the organization along with IT Change Managers.
  • Act as IT Change Manager when required.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • A minimum requirement of a Bachelors degree at a nationally recognized/certified University in a related discipline and 2 years postrelated experience. Or exceptionally the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidates particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NIC Agency that is at least 6 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post including at least 2 years practical experience with network administration.
  • Practical experience in the usage of Service Management tools.
  • Sound knowledge of Service Design Service Transition and Service Operation processes and principles according to ITILv3 or respective on V4.
  • Experience with ITIL release deployment change and configuration management best practices.
  • Experience leading meetings and committees.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management principles.
  • Experience managing IT changes.
  • Experience in the operation of Change Advisory Boards (CAB).
  • Extensive understanding and experience implementing serviceoriented architectures.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with good briefing presentation and summarization skill

You should possess the ability to:
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders including Service Delivery Managers and System Managers to ensure smooth software releases.
  • Enforce and improve Release and Deployment processes and standards.
  • Analyze and collect data related to relevant KPIs to contribute to service performance improvement.
  • Develop and validate deployment approaches for services including managing business readiness cutover and golive support.
  • Ensure adherence to standards and specifications such as the FMN Spiral Specification and establish interfaces with other Service Transition processes.
  • Establish solid links and coordination paths with relevant stakeholders for the release and deployment of deployment packages.
  • Provide guidance on Service Outages plan and communication to the Service Delivery Manager.
