Job Description

- Support in driving standardization across the following Welding processes: GMAW (MIG, MAG & CMT); Laser Welding (Fiber); Resistance Welding (Spot and Projection). Create a common machine design that will allow quick changeover.
- Responsible for follow-up of welding mechanical systems designs for a variety of assembly applications including welders, robots, conveyance, and transfer systems.
- Applies industry knowledge and experience to manage projects from the quoting phase through commissioning and production.
- Utilizes planning, resource, and task management skills in directing vendors to successful implementation of projects. Can delegate and manage multiple projects at any given time.
- capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements; has specialized training either formal or through on-the-job work experience. Travel (possibly international) is often required until equipment is in operation.
- Develop standard documentation on the above welding processes in relationship to quality requirements of the customer.
- Create technical specifications, manage equipment vendors, conduct machine runoffs, and machine acceptance studies prior to successful buy offs by ensuring supplier compliance to Camaco Standards
- Identify, qualify, and develop new equipment suppliers. Build relationships to ensure thorough understanding and consistent execution of standards.
- Provide cycle time and cost estimates on welding processes for new business opportunities.
- Support Product design on new programs for Design for Manufacturing
- Responsible to assign, follow-up and approve vendor work requirements throughout design phase.
- Responsible to follow-up and ensure vendor progress that meets or exceeds project timing.
- Responsible for analyzing scope of work during pre-award phase and to assist in development of manpower plan requirements to complete project within time constraints defined in the project timeline.
- Responsible to give updates to project team including cost projections as engineering changes occur during the life cycle of the project.
- Responsible to work with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews and approvals throughout design phase.
- Responsible for Installation Risk Assessment, Safety & CE Risk Assessment and MFMEA.
- Works with the Ergonomic Committee to complete ERAs on equipment.
- Works with the Engineer Manager to ensure cross functional communication is taking place when there’s a “process change” that affects engineering and/or other departments
- Continuously improve existing welding processes for enhancing welding productivity and reducing downtime.
- Support the Plant and launch teams to investigate the root cause of weld quality issues from customers and develop corrective action plans.
- Research advanced welding technologies for new projects.
- Research advanced weld monitoring technologies for new products.
- Coordinate manufacturing launch for new and revised products across facilities.
- Support internal and external teams during the concept development process for the industrialization of customer projects.
- Conduct time and method studies establishing time standards for welding operations.
- Develop and manage welding-related process FMEA’s and other process documentation.
- Refurbish and repurpose equipment based on global program launches and production needs.
- Ensure global compliance with IATF16949 and other quality, environmental, manufacturing and customer standard requirements.
- Simulate the welding process to ensure torch access and angles are met.
- Develop a process to ensure correct welding parameters are established and maintained.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
