Job Description
Assists the Director of the unit with organizing directing and supervising the operational functions within the Emergency Department. This includes policy and procedures are followed; safe staffing levels are maintained; supplies and equipment are at sufficient levels; and efficient patient throughput is managed. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of clinical care educational requirements required by NCOEMS and performance improvement processes. Assumes hospital emergency management/preparedness responsibilities for TJC standards. Engages in ongoing quality and performance improvement invests in lifelong learning for staff professional development and assures employees complete required annual competencies. Maintains own professional growth and development in nursing leadership and required licensure. Communicates important information to the Director of the unit and the CNO as needed.
As such the responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities: Staff development evidence based clinical practice; personnel resource/productivity management; fiscal management; patient quality safety and performance improvement; and regulatory compliance.
Required Education:
Associates degree is required
Bachelors degree (BSN) is preferred
Required License:
Registered Nurse in North Carolina or Compact state is required
Required Certification:
BLS is required within 30 days of hire
ACLS is required within 30 days of hire
PALS is required within 90 days of hire
Required Experience:
13 years supervisory experience in the ED required
