A biotech company is seeking to hire an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller. In this seat, you will be reporting directly to the VP of Finance and managing 1 Staff Accountant. You will be responsible for owning all month-end close and accounting operations, as well as team management. Previous experience using NetSuite and/or Prendio software is highly preferred, but not required. This role is only onsite one week a month and remote the remainder of the time. There is also free parking included. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting experience, has 3+ years of biotech or life sciences industry experience, and has used NetSuite ERP or Prendio procurement software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare journal entries to record revenue from government and private sources.
  • Assist with payroll expense allocation and preparing related journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly closing entries and perform various account analyses.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliation.
  • Assist with preparing monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain fixed assets list and account for depreciation.
  • Maintain temporarily restricted net assets schedule.
  • Work closely with grants management staff to ensure timely and accurate submission of expense vouchers.
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc management and department budget reports.
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with year-end close and the annual audit of CPC and affiliated entities.
  • Assist with preparing the annual Form 990 Return for CPC and affiliated entities.
  • Assist with preparing IRS Form 941 reconciliation.
  • Provide backup, as required, for the cash management function.


Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, CPA a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in accounting or auditing.
  • Previous non-profit industry experience desired.
  • High degree of proficiency in the use of financial software applications including Excel and Word; knowledge of NetSuite and Prendio a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interface with various levels of management.
  • Must be detail-oriented and be able to work in a meticulous, thorough, and precise manner.
  • Must possess the ability to assume non-routine tasks and to take initiative where appropriate.
  • Must possess a strong follow-through on all projects, ability to bring projects to timely completion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Bachelor's degree Accounting or Finance. 2-3 years of accounting/bookkeeping, financial reporting, analysis experience; Recent public accounting experience is a plus Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, pivot reporting, VLOOKUP, advanced charting, advanced formulas) Excellent communication skills Strong client service orientation Team player and still have the ability to work independently.
