Job Description

Req ID : 1758227

Why did you choose to become an OT?

Because you care.

Because you are full of compassion.

Because you have strong problem-solving skills and love developing innovative approaches to complex situations.

Because you want to help, people gain the strength and mobility to complete daily activities and live their best lives.

Now imagine being an OT where every client you work with is deaf or hard of hearing and often living with challenges and pain from additional injury, illness or other disabilities.

It doesn t matter if you have not had experience with deaf clients in the past, as we are committed to providing Auslan training to all employees.

What a fabulous opportunity for your professional development.

In the meantime, you ll be supported by an Auslan interpreter so that you can get on with what you were made to do;

  • Assessing and diagnosing clients health conditions
  • Identifying solutions and recommending home modification, functional capacity, community access, assistive technology and other standardised assessments.
  • Supporting access to reasonable and necessary support through the preparation of reports with the help of a dedicated Report Writing Team
  • Assisting clients in implementing identified support strategies, including setting up assistive technology and coordinating with other service providers
  • Monitoring client progress and determining the efficacy of strategies implemented through an ongoing care plan
  • Applying interventions to maximise safety and performance in activities of daily living
  • Guiding and educating family members and other caregivers

Our client has been around since 2018 and works nationally through a close-knit team of almost 40 people - they are growing fast.

The Founder has worked as a registered Occupational Therapist for more than 16 years. Growing up with a deaf sister drives her passion and focus for supporting the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Many of the therapists share this particular interest with some team members or their family members being deaf.

You ll work face-to-face with clients via Telehealth VRI (Video Remote Interpreting).

and quot;We provide a laptop, additional screen, tablet and company phone; you ll need a full driver and #x27;s license and access to a car for work, along with a dedicated space at home to deliver your support to clients.

We have a great culture, and collaboration is key to our clients and #x27; continued success and quality of care. Although you work remotely, you ll have a daily huddle to connect with your team and a regular weekly meeting. and quot;

If you tick these boxes

  • AHPRA Qualification
  • Driver s licence and access to a car for work
  • Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card
