Job Summary
Job Title: Technical Expert Solar PV Inverter
Location:Pune India
Role Overview:
The Technical Expert Solar PV Inverter Systems is a senior technical role responsible for the diagnostics repair and reliability enhancement of string and central inverter technologies used in utility-scale solar PV power plants. The role requires deep hands-on experience with inverter hardware advanced understanding of power electronics and the ability to troubleshoot and analyze failures across all major inverter components. The expert will lead fault investigations support site teams and manage technical aspects of warranty LTSA insurance and spare part strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Inverter Diagnostics Repair & Maintenance:
- Performhands-on repair and maintenanceof inverter systems including component-level troubleshooting and replacement.
- Lead hands-on repair and component-level troubleshooting of string and central inverters.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across major components:
- IGBT modules thermal stress gate drive issues
- DC bus capacitors aging ripple instability
- AC filters harmonic distortion overheating
- MPPT controllers underperformance due to mismatch or sensor errors
- Cooling systems fan or liquid cooling failures causing derating
- Control boards & DSPs firmware corruption signal loss
- Communication interfaces RS485/CAN/Ethernet faults
- Grounding systems insulation resistance failures EMI
- Firing angle control waveform distortion switching errors
- Conduct electrical testing thermal imaging firmware diagnostics and validate post-repair performance.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring faults and document corrective actions.
Root Cause Analysis & OEM Engagement:
- Lead detailed RCAsfor inverter failures recurring faults and performance degradation.
- Document failure mechanisms contributing factors and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with OEMs for technical clarifications warranty claims and design feedback.
- SupportOEM change managementby evaluating technical compatibility and performance history.
Warranty LTSA & Insurance Support:
- Manage technical aspects ofwarranty claims including documentation failure evidence and OEM coordination.
- SupportLTSA (Long-Term Service Agreement)reviews and performance audits.
- Provide input forinsurance claimsrelated to inverter failures lightning damage or grid-related events.
- Recommendreplacement strategiesfor obsolete or underperforming inverter models.
Spare Parts Strategy & Procurement Support:
- Definespare parts maintenance strategiesbased on failure trends and criticality.
- Identify high-risk components and recommend stocking levels for IGBTs fans sensors and control boards.
- Supportspare procurement planningby evaluating vendor reliability compatibility and warranty coverage.
Site-Level Technical Support:
- Act as thefirst line of technical supportfor site teams during inverter breakdowns and performance anomalies.
- Provide on-site guidance during inverter commissioning upgrades and major maintenance campaigns.
- Analyze inverter logs fault codes grid interface parameters and SCADA data to support diagnostics.
Monitoring Platforms & Diagnostic Tools:
- Use inverter monitoring platforms and SCADA systems to detect early failures and optimize performance.
- Interpret data trends to identify component stress thermal anomalies and grid compliance issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the engineering departmentand internalsolar PV technology expertsto align on inverter maintenance strategies and reliability improvements.
- Share field insights and RCA findings to support design enhancements and future procurement strategies.
Process Standardization & Compliance:
- Develop and refineStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs)for inverter diagnostics repair and reporting.
- Ensure all interventions and technical findings are documented in compliance with internal governance and safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Power Electronics Renewable Energy or related field.
- Minimum 1015 years of hands-on experiencein solar PV inverter systems with proven expertise in both string and central inverter technologies.
- Strong experience in component-level diagnostics and repair of inverter systems.
- Proven track record in conducting RCAs and working directly with inverter OEMs and factory engineering teams.
- Experience in warranty management LTSA technical reviews insurance claim support and spare part strategy development.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems inverter monitoring platforms and electrical testing equipment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
