Reporting to the Manager Governance and Planning Policy this Senior Policy Advisor position provides mentorship knowledge/skill transfer and facilitation to internal and external teams across all divisions in the department. The position is the lead on major policy development projects within Municipal Affairs and is responsible for designing planning leading and evaluating major projects related to municipal governance planning elections housing tax and assessment and safety and building codes.
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead policy development including project plans Cabinet Reports decision documents briefing notes and legislative or regulatory proposals.
- Track and analyzing key issues and emerging trends affecting the provincial-municipal relationship.
- Develop clear concise briefing materials and recommendations into actionable advice for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts legal counsel and stakeholders across government to ensure alignment and consistency of approaches.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to members of the team while contributing to continuous improvement knowledge sharing and a positive team environment.
