Arcadis is looking for a Station Area Construction Manager the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) corridor as part of the Technical Advisor services and on behalf of Metrolinx. YNSE will feature five planned stations extending from Finch Station to York Region: Steeles Clark Royal Orchard Bridge and High Tech.
Role accountabilities:
The role represents Metrolinx in day-to-day construction activities and reports directly to the Underground Segment Construction Manager.
This position is responsible for overseeing the construction compliance of a sub-segment of the Advance Tunnel project which may includes a subway station or similar underground structure EEB or transition structure as well as tunnel boring activities. The scope of construction activities includes headwalls support of excavation (SOE) excavation decking road detours utility relocations and in coordination with tunnel boring.
The role manages a team of Surface Civil and Tunnel Construction Managers along with their coordinators and inspectors. This team is responsible to performing compliance inspections against contract requirements verifying materials workmanship and installation and witnessing testing commissioning and inspections.
In addition the role includes issuing change orders and change directives as recommended or approved by the Professional of Record (PoR) and overseeing the implementation of and conformance with the contractors quality documentation. It also involves maintaining inspection reports deficiency logs and RFI logs while verifying contractor compliance with technical standards regulatory approvals and owner specifications.
The position supports acceptance and handover readiness and is responsible for escalating instances of non-compliance to the Owner and/or Professional of Record including initiating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required. The role also includes reviewing marking up and certifying progress payments in collaboration with the PoR team.
Furthermore the role prepares substantial performance and total completion correspondence when certified by the PoR team and only once the Design Compliance Letter has been issued. It coordinates with PoR responsible for construction administration of civil works and wet utilities.
The role also manages and coordinates with third-party owners regarding the construction of and/or relocation of dry utilities oversees environmental compliance in the station area and coordinates with other Station Area Construction Managers on the AT YNSE.
Other requirements:
- Works from a site trailer provided by Project Co.
- May be required to attend meetings at the YNSE project office (Yonge-Finch)
- Must have vehicle and be able to travel between multiple construction sites along Yonge St.
- Must be willing to work shift if needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of infrastructure project management experience preferably in large-scale public transit projects.
- Education: A university degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Certifications: (Professional Engineer).
- Familiarity with property acquisition and multi-disciplinary stakeholder management
- Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and local construction regulations.
- Familiarity with alternative project delivery models is a strong asset.
- Strong blueprint and schematic reading proficiency (structural civil and utilities plans).
- Clear universal communication skills to manage diverse field crews and interface with municipal agency representatives.
- Strong analytical skills to handle complex utility conflicts or structural variables safely on-site.
- Valid Ontario G Drivers Licence.
