Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative motivated and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Capital Program Control this position you will be primarily responsible for ensuring that assigned projects are timely and accurately reported to Engineering and Finance. This role supports Project Managers/Leads and RC owners to ensure that the project status is accurately reflected in the forecast spend. Specific duties include project set up in CPPM cost tracking in D365 requisition preparation invoice processing month end accruals variance reporting to plan and forecast and training PMs/Leads on the project system. The successful candidate will demonstrate understanding of accounting procedures including A/P G/L accruals month-end/quarter end/year-end reporting. This position offers the opportunity to assist the supervisor with the annual budget intake and the ongoing maintenance of the project systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides ongoing support to Project Managers (PMs) and Project Leads (PLs) with cost tracking requisition generation receiving and three-way match and invoice processing for individual projects.
- Supports PMs with project set-up monthly forecasting and project in-service and completion reporting using the Capital Project Portfolio Management (CPPM) system. Serves as a system administrator/super user for CPPM.
- Prepares and communicates monthly forecast reports and variance explanations to Engineering and Finance
- Identifies and conducts analysis on variances to be able to explain and manage discrepancies through cost allocations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Tracking actual costs on budget line items which includes collecting information for invoices and tracking costs before they hit the GL using D365.
- Responsible for meeting financial budget cycle deadlines including annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Liaise with various RC owners and PMs and assembles the annual budget plan.
- Prepare various scheduled and as-needed reports for internal stakeholders(e.g. Procurement Regulatory) and external stakeholders e.g. TM shippers (for certain recoverable projects) and CAPP.
- Generates and distributes project status reports and follows up on forecast workflow.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Designation/Certification with Projects Controls or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6 9 years of progressive experience.
- Demonstrated experience/Proven ability/Strong understanding of accounting procedures including A/P G/L accruals month-end/quarter end/year end year-end reporting
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel (advanced skills)
- A track record of delivering highquality work managing competing priorities and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to convey information clearly respectfully and professionally.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail in a fastpaced environment.
