Stormwater Engineer

Our Water Environment and Land team is changing how we design drainage and waterways across some of NSWs more complex infrastructure water and energy projects from new interchanges and freight routes to renewable energy generation and resilient transport corridors.

What youll do

As aStormwater Engineer youllcontributetoprojects and programs thatmake a real difference and be part ofateamthat embraces challenges welcomes diverse ideas and engineer solutions with people community and outcomes in mind. Responsibilities include:

• Supporting a wide variety of projects in the design of stormwater systems including pits and pipes open channels culverts and water quality assets
• Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments for projects from concept phase through to detailed design phase and construction support
• Building and using models in tools such as 12d Civil 3D HEC-RAS DRAINS TuFlow or ORD with close support from seniorspecialists
• Assist with preparing design calculations flooding assessments drawings specifications and technical reports that clearly communicate the stormwater solution
• Working with other disciplines (Energy Roads Bridges Geotechnical Environment Digital) to integrate drainage outcomes into the broader project design
• Assist liaising with State Authorities (Sydney Water TfNSW Sydney Trains etc.) Contractors utility stakeholders and the like to achieve approvals and ensure designs meet standards and client expectations
• Contributing to continuous improvement of our stormwater tools templates and digital workflows including opportunities for automation.

What youll bring

You are someone who enjoys getting into the technical detail but also understands that good stormwater design is about protecting people places and the environment.

You will bring:

• A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline)

• Roughly 1-4 years experience in drainage flooding water quality or civil design ideally on water energy transport or land development projectsor an adjacent experience that you can leverage to bring our projects to life with

• Working knowledge of Australian standards Austroads guidance and (ideally) TfNSW or Sydney Water design requirements

• Some experience with any individual design software such as 12d Civil 3D HEC-RAS DRAINS ORD TuFlow or bring something new that you are using and lets chat

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to quality andconstructability

• Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to document and explain design decisions

• An interest in sustainability water quality and climate resilience and a desire to work towards Chartered Engineer status over time.
