About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft BI Developer to support the maintenance and enhancement of the eDash Business Intelligence platform for a Northern Territory Government agency.
The role involves delivering high-quality Power BI dashboards data models and analytics solutions ensuring alignment with government standards for security accessibility and data governance.
You will work closely with business stakeholders and internal teams to deliver robust scalable and user-friendly BI solutions.
Power BI Development (approx. 45%)
- Design develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
- Implement advanced report features (filters drill-through bookmarks tooltips)
- Optimise performance for enterprise reporting environments
- Ensure compliance with accessibility (WCAG) and design standards
Data Warehouse Development SQL Server (approx. 30%)
- Develop and enhance data models (dimensional/star schema)
- Build and maintain SQL Server views tables and data pipelines
- Implement data validation reconciliation and quality controls
- Optimise queries and database performance
SSAS Tabular Model Development (approx. 20%)
- Design and maintain SSAS Tabular models
- Develop DAX measures KPIs and calculations
- Implement Row Level Security (RLS) and role-based access
- Maintain semantic model documentation including data dictionaries
Web Layer Support (approx. 5%)
- Support updates to JavaScript/JSON-based web wrapper
- Assist with content publishing and minor UI enhancements
General Delivery Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
- Support testing user acceptance and deployment activities
- Maintain high-quality documentation and knowledge transfer
- Deliver work aligned to government governance and standards
Requirements
Mandatory
- Minimum 5 years in BI / data analytics roles
- Minimum 3 years hands-on with:
- Power BI (enterprise environments)
- SSAS Tabular (including DAX & security)
- Strong experience with:
- SQL Server data warehouse development
- Data modelling (dimensional / star schema)
- Proven ability to deliver BI solutions in structured environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working in government or regulated environments
- Exposure to JavaScript / JSON
- Experience with on-premise Power BI Report Server environments
