About the program
Community Living Support (CLS) provides individually tailored person-led community-based psychosocial support for people experiencing severe mental health challenges.
Wellways delivers CLS across a number of NSW regions including Western NSW Murrumbidgee & Albury Illawarra Mid North Coast and Nepean Blue Mountains. Working in partnership with Local Health Districts and community organisations CLS provides flexible practical support that empowers people to achieve their goals strengthen their independence.
About the opportunity
We are seeking a First Nations Engagement Worker to strengthen connections between Wellways CLS and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities families and stakeholders.
This culturally significant role will build strong relationships with community and support culturally safe service delivery and provide guidance to CLS teams to ensure services reflect the values of self-determination cultural safety healing-centred practice and social and emotional wellbeing.
You will work alongside participants families communities and internal teams to improve access to meaningful culturally appropriate supports and help create better mental health outcomes for First Nations peoples.
This is an on-site role requiring regular community presence relationship building and engagement across the region.
Please Note: This position could be based out of any of our offices - Wollongong Albury Griffith Wagga Wagga Penrith Katoomba Lithgow Windsor Coffs Harbour or Kempsey.
About you
You will bring a strong commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples self-determination cultural safety and wellbeing.
You will have the ability to provide cultural guidance collaborate with community partners and support teams to deliver services that are respectful inclusive and aligned with First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing principles.
You will also need:
- Is acknowledged by First Nations community and leadership
- Demonstrated strong connection with First Nations communities and demonstrated strong understanding of the lived experiences of First Nations communities on Country
- Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health Certificate 4 in
- Aboriginal Health or Certificate 4 in Community Services or be enrolled in and actively working toward completing one of these
- Birth Certificate/Passport
- Australian Driver Licence
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion certificate free online course
