Responsibilities
As a Design Manager you will:
Develop overall project architecture and connection arrangements for renewable energy projects.
Assist in the selection of key equipment and the development of functional specifications.
Support the tendering and technical negotiation of major contracts.
Contribute to cost estimation for various project designs and scopes.
Scope and specify early site investigations and early works requirements.
Manage and review early design works undertaken by EPC contractors.
Oversee scope interfaces between multiple contracting parties.
Review final designs submitted by EPC contractors and participate in design workshops.
Provide general project management support and contribute to broader development activities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Have experience with HV electrical and protection concept design.
Possess knowledge of SCADA and control systems for solar and battery storage projects.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the design requirements and delivery models for solar and battery storage projects in Australia.
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Be adept at managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
Be a proactive problem solver with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will include:
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop project designs and specifications.
Engaging with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
Reviewing technical designs and providing feedback to ensure compliance with project goals.
Conducting site investigations and coordinating early works activities.
Managing project timelines and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Participating in design workshops and contributing to technical discussions.
