Design Manager

Overview

Join a leading independent developer owner and manager of renewable energy and energy storage assets as a Design Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major projects group contributing to the development and delivery of a portfolio of cutting-edge renewable energy projects. Based in Sydney you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of clean energy in Australia.

Responsibilities

As a Design Manager you will:

• Develop overall project architecture and connection arrangements for renewable energy projects.
• Assist in the selection of key equipment and the development of functional specifications.
• Support the tendering and technical negotiation of major contracts.
• Contribute to cost estimation for various project designs and scopes.
• Scope and specify early site investigations and early works requirements.
• Manage and review early design works undertaken by EPC contractors.
• Oversee scope interfaces between multiple contracting parties.
• Review final designs submitted by EPC contractors and participate in design workshops.
• Provide general project management support and contribute to broader development activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Have experience with HV electrical and protection concept design.
• Possess knowledge of SCADA and control systems for solar and battery storage projects.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the design requirements and delivery models for solar and battery storage projects in Australia.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Be adept at managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
• Be a proactive problem solver with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop project designs and specifications.
• Engaging with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Reviewing technical designs and providing feedback to ensure compliance with project goals.
• Conducting site investigations and coordinating early works activities.
• Managing project timelines and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
• Participating in design workshops and contributing to technical discussions.
