HealthWISE is looking for multiple Aboriginal Health Workers to join our team in Narrabri or Gunnedah providing services to communities including Wee Waa Moree and Tamworth. You will work closely with clients health professionals and the community to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
We welcome candidates who:
Have a Certificate III or IV in primary health care.
Are working towards a certificate.
Are recent school leavers or people who dont have qualifications yet.
We can support you in training alongside your team mates while you work in the new role. We can also assist you in relocating to our Narrabri or Gunnedah offices if you are based elsewhere.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team delivering culturally appropriate person-centred care. This is a meaningful opportunity to advocate for community needs and support access to quality health services.
About the Role:
Build relationships with local Aboriginal communities
Work closely with the HealthWISE multidisciplinary health care team
Facilitate access to GPs allied health and specialist care
Promote cultural awareness across teams and services
Deliver health education promotion and advocacy
Assist in organising and participating in community events
Direct client support including transport and appointment assistance
About You:
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander*
Strong community connections and cultural knowledge
Communication and relationship-building skills
Willingness to travel and work flexibly when needed
Australian drivers licence
Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or willingness to work towards it
