Staff Drilling Engineer

Client: A subsidiary of a leading oil and gas exploration and production company

Location: Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Type of hiring: Contract (possibility of renewal)

Responsibilities:

• Assist in achieving the Exploration and Development Teams Objectives by meeting well delivery requirements in a safe and costeffective manner.
• Ensure compliance with company regulatory requirements and safe practices in all well planning drilling operations and interfaces.
• Plan engineer procure and optimize well plans suitable for well objectives.
• Prepare well Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) monitor daily drilling costs benchmark performance and ensure accurate cost reporting and allocation.
• Conduct risk reviews interface management and contingency planning for well plans.
• Collaborate closely with the Drilling Superintendent and the Wellsite Supervisor during the execution phase of drilling operations.
• Work closely with the Material and Logistics Team to ensure effective communication planning and operational support at the wellsite.
• Act as the primary contact for Drilling Operation Supervision and Subsurface teams on daytoday operations.
• Provide drilling engineering and technical support to the Drilling Operation Supervision team from the office and in the field when required.
• Plan and conduct Drilling Wells on Paper (DWOP) and PreSpud Meetings for drilling operations.
• Familiarize and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and guidelines responsible for Petronas reporting and approvals for operations.
• Complete Drilling End of Well reports within the required timeline after the end of operations.
• Communicate and collaborate with the Completions Subsea Pipelines and Project Engineering teams (when applicable to well scope).
• Keep partners informed of plans and ongoing operations.
• Provide support in emergency situations to safeguard personnel the environment assets/properties and the well(s).
• Ensure that all regulatory permits are obtained before commencing any well operation.
• Support and advise the Drilling Operation Supervision team on nonroutine procedures and assist in emergency situations.
• Maintain communication with contractors representatives on operational status lookahead programs troubleshooting and other technical/operational matters.
• Conduct postwell review meetings.
• Provide drilling and completions input to field development plans.
• Provide assistance to other team members/projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Degree in engineering.
• At least 12 years of experience in drilling engineering and operations ideally in offshore settings particularly with deepwater expertise.
• Minimum 5 years in a Drilling Engineer Position with full cycle(s) of well delivery processes.
• Proficient in English.
• Competent in MS Office Products Landmark Well Plan and Open Well or equivalent; Familiar with SAP in a users role.
• Consideration will be given exclusively to local candidates.
