Description
Position at Ashoka
Started in 2010 the Israeli office aims to build a thriving international network of changemakers social entrepreneurs entrepreneurial funders and emerging innovator working together to address the hardest problems facing Israel and the Jewish world today. Currently we have a network of nine Ashoka Fellows across the country. Now we want to take our work to the next level and build into a resilient network of social innovators and entrepreneurs across the entire global Jewish world touching companies universities young people and everyone else along the way and addressing the hard challenges facing Israel today.
We are looking for a leader with a unique skill set to help us meet this challenge:
oAre you passionate about driving change in Israel and the Jewish world
oHave you founded an organization (or a few) and scaled them up
oHave you built a movement or a campaign that has changed thinking on a large scale
oHave you brought unique major partners to work together in collaboration
oAre you ready for truly global impact
We have a powerful opportunity for you:
The Director of Ashoka Israel will serve as a thought leader team builder partnership manager network weaver organization developer and strategy lead for Ashokas work in Israel and the Jewish world globally. Alongside entrepreneurial team members the Director will help develop a bold vision for Ashoka Israel in the next stage of growth and play an instrumental role in transforming it into a Changemakers Nation. The Director will also take this work to the next level and build a resilient network if Israeli and Jewish Ashoka Fellows partners and funders. Building partnerships and fundraising will be a key component of the work.
At Ashoka we are not typically looking to hire someone who can just do a job. We are looking to hire someone who can redefine a job; taking it the team and the organization to a higher level. That means that who you are and what youve been compelled to do is more important than your degrees your work experience and the metrics demonstrating your competence.
With that in mind our ideal candidate will:
Have a stack record of innovating solutions and successfully bringing them to fruition
Demonstrate experience in significantly scaling the social impact of organizations
Have an ability to lead and build partnerships through influence ideas and exceptional communication skills
Have demonstrated ability in major client/partner relationship management fundraising and resource mobilization
Have strong social/emotional intelligence and proven leadership ability to inspire enable and integrate an entrepreneurial team with respect and collegiality
Have an established network in Israel and the Jewish World globally
Have experience in the responsibilities of an Executive Director both in representing an organization externally and managing internal operations
Understand Israels and the Jewish worlds diversity current challenges and opportunities for systemlevel change
Have a deep passion for leading work at the intersection of changemaking Israel and the Jewish world
The Ashoka Israel office is flexible on geography for the right candidate but must be primarily based in Israel. The candidate must be willing to travel often internationally. The position start date is as soon as possible with flexibility for the right candidate until March 2025.
Ashoka is the global pioneer of social entrepreneurship and changemaking.
We have built the worlds largest network of leading social entrepreneurs with more than 4000 Ashoka Fellows spanning 90 countries. These leading social entrepreneurs create new patternchanging ideas to solve seemingly intractable challenges and act as key role models and recruiters for changemakers. They point us to the next frontiers of change in society and inspire the ideas that shape Ashokas strategies.
More recently Ashoka is driving the Everyone a Changemaker vision in which social organizations companies municipalities youth organizations educational institutions in short all aspects of society are engaged to give everyone an opportunity to be a changemaker and drive change towards a better world.
