Position Overview:
The Training Director is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of trainingto staff. This role involves managing training initiatives assessing training effectiveness andensuring alignment with HCPDO mission vision and values. The Training Director supportsemployee development and works with leadership to align training programs with organizationalgoals. The Training Director reports directly to the Chief of Legal Services but will collaborate withother supervisors about training needs as well as work with the Training Committee regardingeducation of the bar generally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing implementing and overseeing training and gathering training resources.
- Directly training lawyers and staff.
- Meeting with Chief of Legal Services supervisors and/or training committee.
- Administrative Duties.

Experience:
The Training Director must have significant experience as a criminal defense lawyer and have trieda substantial number of felony cases.
Licensure:Must be licensed or eligible to become licensed in Texaswithin one (1) year.

Preferences
Experience training criminal defense lawyers is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of culture andpractice in Harris County criminal courts is preferred but not required.
Ten (10) years of criminal defenseexperience.
Training experience across various team roles within indigent defense is preferred butnot required.
General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
Regular Full-time
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Plus weekends as needed.
Salary:
Depends on Qualifications
Based on 26 pay periods
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
