Job Summary
Our client has an opening for Supervisor Scalehouse. This training role is designed for individuals aspiring to become hog buyers within the clients procurement operations. The position provides hands-on experience in livestock receiving at the plant focusing on critical processes such as sorting weighing identifying and penning hogs according to established segregation protocols. Trainees will work closely with experienced hog buyers in the field gaining exposure to procurement programs carcass merit evaluation harvest sheet data weight dock operations and other essential buying procedures. Upon successful completion of the training program candidates will be qualified to apply for full-time hog buyer positions. The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards regulatory compliance and operational efficiency while fostering professional growth through structured mentorship and progressive responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Sort count weigh tattoo permanently identify and pen livestock in accordance with Tysons segregation programs.
- Train alongside experienced hog buyers in field operations to develop procurement expertise.
- Provide vacation relief for hog buyers after achieving required proficiency.
- Manage scheduling of livestock deliveries at the plant during advanced training stages.
- Learn and apply Tyson Hog Procurement Programs carcass merit principles harvest sheet data weight dock procedures and other core buying practices.
- Maintain accurate records and support operational workflows with attention to detail.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with Tyson SOPs animal handling standards safety protocols and USDA regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or equivalent livestock production background.
- Candidates graduating in May $GraduationYear are eligible for consideration with employment contingent upon degree completion.
- Prior livestock experience is strongly preferred.
- Basic computer skills required for recordkeeping and data entry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional phone communication skills essential.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Willingness and availability to travel overnight as needed.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and assume incremental responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Required to wear safety gear at all times: hard hat steel-toe boots and hearing protection.
- Work environment temperatures vary seasonally and may be extreme.
Physical Demands:
- Standing or walking for the entire shift.
- Minimal bending depending on livestock handling techniques per cleints SOP.
- Minimal lifting; tools and equipment used weigh less than 5 pounds.
- Full-hand grasp required for driving tools tattoo equipment and gate operation.
- Moderate to heavy force may be required when assisting with compromised hogs.
Additional
- Must understand follow and uphold clients SOPs for animal handling safety and USDA compliance.
- Supervisor Trainer will ensure ongoing alignment with job functions and responsibilities.
- Must successfully complete all qualifications and assessments for the assigned role.
