Position Overview
A healthcare facility in Long Beach California is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity. The technician will be responsible for the decontamination assembly sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety quality and infection control standards.
Responsibilities
Decontaminate clean inspect assemble and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
Disassemble and reassemble complex surgical instruments according to manufacturer guidelines
Assemble and package instrument trays accurately for surgical procedures
Operate washers sterilizers autoclaves and related processing equipment safely and efficiently
Inspect instruments for cleanliness functionality and damage
Document missing damaged or malfunctioning equipment
Maintain sterilization records inventory levels and processing documentation
Follow infection control protocols ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
Collaborate effectively with operations distribution staff and healthcare teams
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician required (CRCST CIS or equivalent)
Minimum 1 year of hands-on sterile processing experience required
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments sterilization methods and infection control practices required
Experience operating washer disinfectors autoclaves and sterilization equipment required
Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs preferred
Skills & Experience
Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance focus
Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and SOPs
Basic computer and electronic documentation skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
