We are seeking aLicensed Steam Operatorto operate the Control Room boilers water softeners and related equipment in a cogeneration and steam plant. The plant burns natural gas to produce electricity and steam for a refinery and mine. Excess electricity is sold to a utility. Equipment includes gas turbines generators boilers water softeners pumps water wells and electrical distribution systems.
This role requires an active stationary engineer or boiler operator license (state or local jurisdiction). The ideal candidate is safety-focused mechanically inclined and capable of working independently in a remote industrial environment.
Essential Job Duties
Operate the Control Room in the Cogeneration and Steam Plant
Operate boilers and related auxiliary equipment
Draw water samples and perform chemical tests; adjust chemical feed rates as needed
Open and close valves; start and stop pumps
Light boilers and monitor equipment for proper operation
Operate plant water softeners and related equipment
Unload salt trucks into softener brine pits
Adhere to and support Health Safety Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) compliance standards
Other Functions
Perform minor repairs and equipment lubrication as required
Maintain a clean organized and safe work area
Maintain records tallies and reports as required
Assist in training Fuel Tenders or less experienced operators
Operate lockout/tagout (LOTO) equipment
Qualifications
Required:
Active stationary engineer boiler operator or steam operator license (state or local jurisdiction)
Experience operating industrial boilers steam turbines or cogeneration plants
Knowledge of water treatment chemical testing and boiler chemistry
Ability to read and interpret gauges meters and control panel displays
Basic mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and equipment checks
Willingness to work rotating shifts weekends and holidays as needed
Ability to work in a remote industrial environment
Preferred:
Experience in a refinery mine or power plant setting
Familiarity with gas turbines or generators
Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
Working Conditions
Exposure to heat noise chemicals and industrial hazards (PPE provided)
Physical requirements: standing walking climbing stairs/ladders lifting up to 50 lbs
On-site position; no remote work
