Location/Assignment: District Support Services
Conditions of work: 180 days/1FTE
SUMMARY:
The District ELD Specialist/Coach collaborates and co-plans with instructional staff districtwide to design ELD to increase student language skills in all language domains. This position also supports the ongoing implementation of instructional strategies to increase access to core instruction for multilingual students through intentional planning with feedback and strategic study and adjust cycles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design core English Language Development to intentionally instruct and assess reading writing listening and speaking skills according to student language proficiency Support ongoing implementation of instructional strategies to increase access to core instruction for MLs including building capacity in building staff to implement strategies
Identify and monitor eligible MLs including assessing students for eligibility and monitoring ongoing language development Design and support the implementation of ELD services provided by paraeducators Assist in the collection of program documentation for required compliance items

*Participate in a variety of activities to enhance personal and professional skills Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to keep confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an ELL or Bilingual endorsement required. Knowledge of WIDA Standards Framework 2020 Knowledge about research based instructional strategies to support MLs (GLADAVID Academic Language etc.) Proficiency in reading writing and oral communications Establish and maintain effective positive communication and working relationships with students parents or guardians staff and administrators Designing and implementing lesson plans for students having a wide range of achievement. Strong technical and word processing skills Ability to work individually and collaboratively Sets and maintains high expectations of students. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
