The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for leading the design and execution of process systems including developing design bases evaluating process options and optimizing unit performance. This role performs and oversees a full range of process engineering activitiessuch as simulations heat and material balances equipment sizing and safety studieswhile ensuring alignment with industry standards and project requirements. Working with minimal supervision the Sr. Process Engineer coordinates across disciplines supports project planning efforts and provides technical leadership and guidance to junior staff to ensure consistent high-quality project deliverables.
Responsibilities:
Leads the design of a process unit including establishing process design basis development of process options and optimization of selected design.
Has a comprehensive understanding of principles theories concepts and industry practices and standards and their application; responsible for performing and overseeing all aspects of engineering and design.
Works under minimal supervision; work is reviewed for adequacy on completion.
Provides technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.
Performs and oversees all process engineering functions including feasibility & optimization studies process simulations & heat/material balances process equipment sizing process data for instrument & mechanical data sheets hydraulic piping line sizing relief calculations & flare network modeling and other philosophies/reports.
Supports project management with reporting scheduling staff planning and coordination.
Ensures that engineering calculations and drawings are in accordance with industry codes and standards.
Assigns tasks to and supervises the work of less senior process personnel.
Initiates and maintains regular communication between the process team and all other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of work and that consistent technical content is maintained for all design documents/data throughout the project.
Prepares drawings such as BFDs PFDs and P&IDs.
Leads and participates in HAZOP HAZID and SIL rating studies.
Develops suitable process conditions and specifications (e.g. pressure vessels pumps compressors heat exchangers fired heaters and distillation columns).
Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer.
Performs related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications / Education Requirements:
BSc MSc or equivalent in Process / Chemical Engineering is required.
10 years of experience onshore compressor stations experience preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
Possess good interpersonal skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to Process Engineering.
High level of commitment to safety.
Highly motivated and positive attitude.
Software:
Ability to use HYSYS Aspen Flare System Analyzer and other relevant process simulation software projects (BR&E ProMax VMG Symmetry etc.) preferred.
Advanced Microsoft skills (Word Excel PowerPoint Teams) preferred.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations.
Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or facility.
When on field assignment you may be required to work in a plant and/or shop areas around production machinery subject to varying temperatures and noise.
May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):
Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively including sufficient clarity of speech hearing or other communication capabilities.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
