Job Summary

Position Summary:

This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of 3 days per week in our Raleigh NC office.

Conformation events are the highest-profile method of promoting purebred dogs and the sport. To attain our goals this position must understand the importance of not only judging applicants but also prominent members of the fancy and their impact on the sport. This position involves the handling and processing of Conformation judging applications with moderate supervision from the Manager. To be successful one must possess the ability to make sound judgments under intense pressure due to monthly Committee meeting deadlines and scrutiny of the published information in the Secretarys Page and AKCs Website. Accuracy is of the utmost importance and the work is time sensitive and highly visible due to scrutiny by Executive Staff the Board of Directors and the fancy via the Secretarys page and AKCS Website

Primary Job Duties:

  • Review Conformation applications to ascertain that applicants meet the criteria. Requires complete understanding of the current judging approval process; reviewing background and experiences as they relate to educational endeavors and preparation of the application to ensure only qualified applicants are presented for consideration.
  • Respond to all judging applicants inquiries by telephone email or letter regarding status of applications interviews final acceptance by the Staff Committee and publication dates.
  • Verbal and written contact with Executive Field Staff arranging interviews discussing failed procedural exams and discussions with judging applicants.
  • Develop information to generate Staff recommendations appropriate acceptance letters and publication of results on Secretary Page in the Gazette.
  • Revise and update judges records on CMS (Competition Maintenance System) and AKCs Website. This information enables club members and judges committees to select a judge for their judging panel.
  • Facilitate callers using AKCs Website by assisting in determining rules regulations and policies as they apply to judging judges eligibility contact information mileage conflicts etc.
  • Maintaining office files in accordance with procedures including culling scanning and indexing.
  • Enter application fees using Dough (Cash Receipt System).
  • Maintains lists of Judges Workshops Groups National Specialties and Judges Education Coordinators; publish all lists on the AKC Website. Prepares all forms of correspondence associated with the Institutes.
  • Prepares lists certificates and flyers requested by education coordinators.
  • Assists other staff members or managers with projects.

Required Skills Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft suite and office tools (word excel PowerPoints) Some knowledge with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision and excellent attention to details.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Internal -candidate- AKC Software
  • Ability to prioritize workloads with critical deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
