This role supports learners in grades PK-12 in a small rural-based community school helping students build foundational academic social and developmental skills in a supportive team-based environment.

Special Education Teacher Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction to early childhood students with diverse learning needs
  • Develop implement and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Deliver specialized instruction aligned with student goals and developmental milestones
  • Use play-based and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers related service providers (SLPs OTs PTs) and families
  • Monitor and document student progress using data-driven practices
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and district special education regulations
  • Participate in IEP meetings team meetings and professional development
  • Foster a supportive inclusive learning environment for young learners

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education (minimum)
  • Valid Vermont Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility)
  • Experience or interest in early childhood preschool or special education settings preferred
  • Strong communication organization and collaboration skills
