PagerDuty is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our diverse and customer-focused team!

Youll be working on our authentication and authorization platform a core part of our business that helps organizations securely access and govern the usage of their data within PagerDuty. Youll work across the full stack including Rails and React while helping pioneer agentic development practices that treat AI as a first-class engineering partner.

Why we need you

The Authentication and Authorization Team is looking for a passionate software engineer to help build the future security platform for the Operations Cloud. Youll help realize our long-term vision for an innovative flexible and extensible identity platform building the AI-native foundations of highly available services scalable databases and secure APIs that underpin both our own users and the growing set of AI and agentic products that rely on PagerDuty for secure access. Youll have plenty of opportunities to partner with product and design on shaping new features for our customers and youll help promote engineering excellence across our design development test and release cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • From day one youll be designing coding testing and shipping backend applications and microservices APIs and front-end interfaces that ensure we deliver secure highly reliable and scalable solutions to our customers.
  • Since we own and operate what we build youll collaborate closely with engineers across teams.
  • With 20000 global customers and growing youll be solving really interesting technical challenges while helping to scale our product to keep up with demand.
  • Participating in your teams on-call rotation triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience designing building and operating large systems with scalability availability and performance requirements.
  • Development experience building and operating customer-facing web-based products.
  • Demonstrated experience with Ruby React and AI coding tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have operational experience in cloud technologies such as AWS
  • You have experience with languages such as Elixir or Java
  • You have operational experience with databases & tools (e.g. MySQL Aurora Kafka NoSQL applying software engineering principles to data problems etc.)
  • Experience building user-facing public APIs
  • Youve had experience designing & implementing distributed and highly available systems
  • Exposure to or interest in authentication/authorization concepts (e.g. OAuth SSO RBAC/ReBAC) a plus

The base salary range for this position is 113000 - 190300 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus commission equity and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role level and location. The range which is subject to change based on primary work location reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location job-related knowledge skills/competencies and experience.
