Job Summary
Senior Technical Writer
Location: San Jose CA (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 remote)
Duration: Contract (1-2 yrs)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality product documentation for Cisco Security solutions (e.g. architecture guides admin guides APIs workflows)
- Translate complex security and networking concepts into clear structured and user-friendly content
- Leverage AI tools within the authoring lifecycle (drafting summarization validation content reuse and QA)
- Own structured documentation frameworks using XML Markdown and reusable content models
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering product management and SMEs to gather inputs and validate accuracy
- Manage documentation in version-controlled environments (Git) and contribute to modern doc pipelines
- Continuously improve documentation workflows by incorporating automation AI tooling and best practices
- Ensure content aligns with internal standards style guides and product release timelines
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of technical writing experience in enterprise technology (security networking cloud or infrastructure)
- Demonstrated experience integrating AI into content creation workflows (not theoretical-practical usage required)
- Strong experience with structured authoring (XML DITA or similar frameworks)
- Proficiency in key tools:
- Oxygen XML Editor
- Markdown
- VS Code
- Git
- Experience writing for security or cloud-delivered platforms
- Ability to quickly understand and document complex distributed systems and architectures
- Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to work with technical SMEs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience documenting Cisco or similar enterprise security platforms
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g. Codex LLM-driven authoring tools content automation platforms)
- Knowledge of modern documentation practices such as:
- Docs-as-code
- Content modularization
- API documentation standards
- Background in network security SSE or zero trust architectures
