Ruder Electric of The State Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator based in Kankakee Illinois. This position reports directly to the Senior Regional Safety Manager and is a trusted advisor and field resource supporting large-scale construction projects through proactive safety leadership regulatory compliance employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives that help keep our people safe every day.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Serve as a key safety contact for customers contractors and regulatory agencies on job sites.
  • Conduct and document inspections and incident investigations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform safety audits of work practices housekeeping equipment and materials.
  • Track audit findings inspections and corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA EPA COR ISO and other regulatory requirements.
  • Report safety concerns risks and non-compliance issues to Safety Management and Operations leadership.
  • Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or behaviors including coaching personnel and isolating equipment when required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through accountability communication and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

  • Bachelors degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience and certifications.
  • At least 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Intermediate knowledge with Excel safety recordkeeping safety software and training databases.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills.
  • CSP or CHST certification preferred.
