Job Summary

General Description

The Seminole County Sheriffs Office is now accepting applications for aPROGRAM INTERNSHIP (6-month temporary position).

Applicationswill be accepted until May 26 2026.

All positions require a NOTARIZED Background Investigation Waiver to be uploaded with your application.

Typical Duties

The position of Program Intern assigned to the Seminole County Sheriffs Office Public Safety Building performs routine work by assisting and providing security to the Sheriffs Administrative building monitoring the computerized security system cameras and fire alarm systems. When assigned to the information desk greets visitors to appropriate offices for service and provides information as appropriate to visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a College or State University as a junior senior or Masters student
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
  • Maintain a valid Florida Drivers License

Successful applicants will be required to complete and submit an entire employment application which will be provided to the applicant by the Human Resources Division. The applicant will then submit to a thorough background investigation which includes but is not limited to past employment/education verification drivers license review credit history prior drug use history arrest/conviction record and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Pre-Screen Questionnaire or Employment Application will disqualify your application.

The background investigation process may take up to 2-3 months depending upon the complexity of the applicants background and the semester you are applying.

Candidates must also comply with the Agencys current Tattoo and Body Ornamentation Policy. A copy of General Order 28 - Dress and Appearance can be accessed here. An applicants tattoos and body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application and will be documented as part of the agencys review process even if otherwise meeting the Agencys policy.

Applicants not selected for employment will receive notification from the Human Resources Division to include justification based on the following disqualifiers: negative background failure to meet minimum qualifications as outlined in the specific job description or any additional information discovered during the interview process.

The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicants background and position for which youve applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
