Job Summary

Position Function:

Coordinates projects processes and activities and provides services for departments and current students in the College of Forest Resources. Serves as a central administrative staff member responsible for supporting academic course and classroom scheduling communication and student progress tracking functions within the College of Forest Resources. This role is essential to ensuring coordination and continuity in processes that directly impact student success timely matriculation and faculty workload management. As the college transitions its academic advising roles to a centralized university unit the duties previously housed within the CFR Student Services Coordinator roles that are unrelated to direct advising must be reassigned to maintain operational integrity.

Department Profile:

The Coordinator will serve the College of Forest Resources (CFR) at Mississippi State University. The mission of CFR is to foster the management conservation and sustainable use of forest wildlife and aquatic resources to benefit the people of Mississippi the nation and the world. CFR offers 4 majors and 16 concentrations and hundreds of careers. CFR provides students with ample opportunities to join discipline-oriented clubs and organizations and engage in undergraduate research.

Anticipated Appointment Date:

July 1 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists and advises CFR students with academic related issues such as (but not limited to) University or college policies and procedures degree requirements supplemental instruction graduation application and graduation audits.
2. Reviews and maintains CFR student records such as advising documentation.
3. Processes on behalf of the Deans office add/drop withdrawal requests academic forgiveness substitutions overload overrides and petitions for retroactive withdrawal and communicates these requests/approvals to Registrars office as appropriate.
4. Supports and consolidates departmental degree audits that inform upper-level academic advising to ensure progress towards degree completion and timely matriculation.
5. Validates completion requirements for all CFR applicants for graduation and communicates clearance for graduation to departments and Registrars office.
6. May coordinate activities related to field experiences internships exit surveys and job placement of graduates.
7. Monitor course enrollment patterns waitlists and demand trends across all CFR concentrations.
8. Collaborate with the Departments to inform semester course offerings seat capacities and classroom assignments. Assimilate and coordinate departmental master class schedules into a collective CFR master class schedule that minimizes time and space conflicts.
9. Manage CFR inputs and updates in the CourseLeaf CLSS system for each term.
10. Review and process override requests each semester resolving registration issues and coordinating with faculty and university offices as needed.
11. Approve change of major and change of concentration request coming from departments.
12. Communicate and collaborate with Center for Advising College lead to identify and resolve issues with degree works backbone for all CFR degree programs and concentrations.
13. Assist with CFR student events.
14. Other responsibilities deemed appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in natural resources or a related field.
Experience advising in a collegiate setting
Experience with Banner Degree Works CLSS and Eforms

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to communicate and relate to students and university personnel.
2. Knowledge of word processing and spread sheet programs.
3. Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills required.
4. Knowledge of academic advising processes
5. Ability to utilize Banner Degree Works CLSS Eforms and other student services software platforms.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
