The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is seeking professional Preparation Cooks to work in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Position requires flexibility with scheduling.
Compensation:
Starting at $15.00/hour
Expected Hours: up to 30 hours/week
Essential Duties:
Assists in all aspects of food preparation as needed
Follows both the written and verbal preparation lists
Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes sanitizing surfaces and taking out trash
Executing food products as intended based on the Chefs guidelines and specifications
Works independently and with minimal supervision
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Qualifications:
Ability to read and write
Work efficiently and expediently
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils
Ability to work weekends all holidays mornings and nights
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Ability to perform well in a high-volume environment
Must be able to go up & down stairs in our multi-level kitchen
Work Environment: This position is based in a commercial kitchen environment often hot humid and fast-paced. Exposure to cooking equipment cleaning chemicals and sharp instruments is routine. Teamwork is essential in this high-energy setting.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods bend lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchen. Tasks involve repetitive motion and use of hands to handle food tools or controls. The role requires stamina manual dexterity and awareness of food safety standards.
