Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to lead our North American payroll operations encompassing both the United States and Canada. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate timely and compliant payroll processing while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the payroll function. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with deep knowledge of regional payroll regulations tax compliance and team leadership.

Day to Day

Day-to-day Operations:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with federal state/provincial and local regulations.
    • Manage payroll schedules reconciliations and reporting cycles in alignment with company policies and statutory requirements.
    • Partner with Finance HR and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll integration and data integrity.
  • Compliance & Taxation:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation tax laws and regulatory changes in both countries.
    • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related audits filings and remittances (e.g. IRS CRA state/provincial agencies).
    • Lead internal controls and risk mitigation strategies related to payroll and tax compliance.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead mentor and develop a high-performing payroll team fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
    • Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing to build team resilience and adaptability.
  • Process Improvement & Excellence:
    • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve payroll accuracy efficiency and employee experience.
    • Leverage technology and automation to streamline payroll operations and reporting.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and escalations.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives workforce changes and compliance requirements.
    • Provide strategic insights and reporting to senior leadership on payroll trends risks and opportunities.

Essentials:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Human Resources or related field; CPP or PCP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 57 years of progressive payroll experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in both U.S. and Canadian payroll processing and tax compliance.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and HRIS integrations.

Required Software Skills:

  • ADP Workforce Now and/or ADP GlobalView advanced proficiency in payroll processing and reporting.
  • Oracle HCM Cloud experience with payroll data management integrations and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables VLOOKUP data analysis).

Applicable pay range

$92306.00 - $138460.00

Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills years of relevant experience you possess and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range especially those with less experience or qualification.

This position is subject to the terms of DLLs compensation plans and policies. Further the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees including healthcare benefits 401k matching vacation sick leave parental leave possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
