The Over-the-Road (OTR) Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting freight across regional and long-distance routes while ensuring timely deliveries and compliance with all transportation regulations. This position requires a dependable safety-focused professional who can operate commercial vehicles efficiently and maintain excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a commercial tractor-trailer to transport freight safely and efficiently
Perform pre-trip in-route and post-trip vehicle inspections
Ensure timely pickup and delivery of loads according to schedules
Maintain accurate logs trip records fuel receipts and delivery documentation
Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) FMCSA and company safety regulations
Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transport
Communicate regularly with dispatch regarding load status delays or issues
Report vehicle maintenance needs accidents or safety concerns promptly
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned equipment
Provide professional and courteous service to customers and shipping/receiving personnel
Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
Clean driving record and ability to meet DOT requirements
Current DOT medical card
Minimum of X months/years of OTR driving experience preferred
Ability to operate manual and/or automatic transmission vehicles
Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
Skills & Abilities
Strong attention to safety and detail
Good time-management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to navigate using GPS maps and electronic logging devices (ELDs)
Physical ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
Extended periods of driving and travel
Overnight and multi-day trips required
Exposure to varying weather and road conditions
Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed
