Job Summary
Position Overview:
The Manager After-School Programs is a key leader within KIPP NYCs Regional After-School Programs team responsible for ensuring the quality compliance and operational excellence of after-school programming across multiple schools.
Reporting to the Director of After-School Programs the Manager partners closely with Program Directors school leaders families and regional stakeholders to strengthen program quality develop school-based leaders and ensure after-school programming reflects KIPP NYCs commitment to joyful engaging and high-quality learning experiences.
This role requires a strategic student-centered leader who can coach adults build strong partnerships ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement through effective systems data-informed decision-making and a commitment to educational equity.
This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three in-person days per week based out of our KIPP NYC Midtown Manhattan office. The role also includes travel to KIPP NYC campuses across the Bronx Brooklyn and Manhattan. The cadence and frequency of school visits will be determined by your leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Program Quality
- Supervise coach and develop Program Directors to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality after-school programming across multiple school sites.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through coaching goal setting observation and ongoing feedback.
- Ensure after-school programming aligns with KIPP NYCs Graduate Aims Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies and DYCD program standards.
- Support Program Directors in designing engaging experiences that promote academic enrichment leadership development social-emotional growth and joyful student learning.
- Drive consistency and excellence across all after-school programs while honoring the unique needs of individual school communities.
School Partnership & Family Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with Principals school leadership teams Program Directors families and community organizations.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between school-day and after-school staff to ensure students experience a cohesive learning environment.
- Serve as a trusted partner to schools by providing responsive solutions-oriented support that strengthens program implementation and student outcomes.
- Support regional and school-based family engagement efforts that foster strong partnerships with caregivers and communities.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure all after-school programs remain compliant with Department of Health (DOH) Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and KIPP NYC operational requirements.
- Lead mock site visits and readiness assessments to prepare schools for compliance reviews and audits.
- Provide on-site leadership and operational support during compliance visits and other critical events.
- Conduct regular audits of program documentation operational systems and compliance records.
- Monitor program implementation and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen systems and operational effectiveness.
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Use observational data family and student feedback program metrics and site performance data to evaluate program quality.
- Partner with Program Directors to develop action plans that improve student engagement program quality and operational performance.
- Monitor trends across schools and recommend strategies that strengthen after-school programming network-wide.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement by using data to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
Professional Learning & Leadership Development
- Design and facilitate professional learning experiences for Program Directors and Assistant Program Directors.
- Build leadership capacity through coaching mentoring and ongoing development opportunities.
- Support implementation of regional initiatives operational systems and best practices across all after-school sites.
Regional Operations
- Support staffing needs by providing leadership coverage at school sites when needed.
- Lead the planning and execution of regional after-school events and department initiatives.
- Collaborate with regional departments and external partners to strengthen programming and operational systems.
- Maintain flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends to support after-school programming family events trainings and special initiatives.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience in after-school expanded learning youth development recreation or related educational programs.
- Experience supervising and coaching adults to improve performance and achieve ambitious goals.
- Strong knowledge of Department of Health (DOH) Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) requirements governing after-school programming.
- Demonstrated success leading program operations compliance and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
- Experience using data to evaluate program quality identify trends and drive strategic decision-making.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build and sustain productive relationships with school leaders families community partners and regional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated flexibility sound judgment initiative and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Additional Information :
Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a salary ranging from $80340 - $100940. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.

This is a full-time in-person role based in New York City and will require travel to our schools. If you are not in a school-based position the cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team.
