Junior Estimator - Full time Location: Sacramento County CA
A growing construction company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support the preconstruction and estimating team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in construction estimating and project planning. The Junior Estimator will assist in preparing accurate project cost estimates reviewing construction documents coordinating with subcontractors and vendors and supporting bid preparation activities for commercial and/or industrial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings specifications and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements
Perform quantity take-offs for labor materials and equipment
Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for upcoming projects
Solicit and compare pricing from subcontractors suppliers and vendors
Maintain organized records of estimates proposals and project documentation
Support senior estimators during budgeting pricing and bid submission processes
Analyze project schedules and identify potential cost impacts or risks
Coordinate with project managers field teams and clients as needed during preconstruction activities
Ensure estimates are completed within deadlines and company standards
Stay updated on construction materials pricing trends and industry practices
Required Qualifications
Proficiency in cost estimating blueprint reading and construction project analysis
Basic understanding of construction estimating principles
Knowledge of construction materials methods and terminology
Strong mathematical analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
Familiarity with estimating software is preferred
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Previous internship or experience in construction estimating project coordination or related construction roles
Associates or Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering Architecture or a related field is preferred
