A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN IT Security Engineer II
A typical day for a Security Engineer II involves managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences IT environment. Responsibilities include serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues. The role begins with monitoring and reviewing security dashboards alerts and threat activity followed by engineering and project-based work. Approximately 60% of the role is focused on security projects system improvements and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues. Daily activities include designing implementing and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments; monitoring investigating and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities; and supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Cybersecurity or a related field.
4 years of experience in information security engineering security operations or cybersecurity infrastructure.
Required Certifications: One or more of the following or equivalent: CompTIA Security; GIAC (GSEC or similar);Cisco CCNA Security or equivalent
Hands-on experience with firewalls IDS/IPS SIEM platforms endpoint protection and vulnerability management tools.
Experience configuring and supporting VPNs secure network connectivity and hybrid cloud security solutions.

SCHEDULE
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Occasional after-hours work may be required.
On-Call: Participation in a rotating on-call schedule required
After-Hours Work: May be required as needed
