Tekberry is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Interior Design Assistant to support our client within Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE). This role provides hands-on assistance with interior design projects supporting student housing and campus facilities. Responsibilities include developing furniture and finish plans conducting field verifications preparing design documentation and assisting with project coordination from concept through implementation.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in interior design principles proficiency with industry-standard software and enjoys balancing office-based design work with field activities throughout campus.
Responsibilities
Assist with the development and preparation of interior design deliverables including:
Furniture plans
Finish plans
Interior elevations
Design presentations
Finish boards and material palettes
Conduct field verification activities including:
Taking measurements
Photographing existing conditions
Assessing interior finishes and furnishings
Develop and maintain project documentation using AutoCAD and related software applications
Assist in selecting finishes furnishings fixtures and interior materials in accordance with project requirements
Support furniture specification and finish selection processes
Coordinate with project stakeholders vendors and campus departments as needed
Update drawings and project files based on field observations and design revisions
Assist with 3D modeling and rendering activities when applicable
Organize project records finish libraries and material samples
Support additional design and project-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Interior Design Interior Architecture Architecture or a related field
Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in an architecture or interior design firm
Proficiency with:
AutoCAD
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment
Valid California Drivers License
Ability to travel throughout campus and perform field verification activities
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Bluebeam
Proficiency with Revit
Experience developing:
Furniture plans
Finish plans
Interior elevations
Experience creating design palettes and finish boards
Knowledge of furniture and finish specifications
Experience performing field verification of existing conditions
3D modeling and rendering experience
Experience supporting institutional higher education hospitality or multifamily residential projects
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
100% onsite position supporting campus-based projects
Combination of office-based design work and field assignments throughout campus
Frequent computer use involving drafting documentation and design development
Regular walking standing measuring and photographing project sites
Ability to drive around campus with travel potentially totaling up to one hour per day
Ability to lift and transport finish samples material boards and project documentation as needed
