TheUW Medical Center Montlake Operating Roomshave an outstanding opportunity for aImplant Coordinator (Implant Materials Specialist) within the OR Implant Rooms.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-Time / 40 hours per week

  • Day Shifts

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Be responsible for the daily operations of the high-cost and high-stake OR Prosthesis Program pertaining to coordinating implant requests for surgery ensuring implant availability revenue capture expense submission and implant inventory management.

  • This position entails daily use of the electronic materials management system (Workday) tissue tracking software (TrackCore) product recalls application (RASMAS) EPIC dashboards and reporting vendor-owned set management software (Settrax) MS Word MS Excel and various network share drives.

  • This position requires a high degree of surgical implant knowledge regarding their usage application in surgery tracking and how they are stored teamwork process improvement fiscal responsibility and customer service skills.

  • It is also necessary to be highly detail oriented to be successful in this job.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate implants and related supplies needed for surgery with surgeons vendors nurses and PCCs using EPIC email and Settrax. Understand internal implant approval process and coordinate accordingly.

  • Review OR schedule to confirm and anticipate need of implants and related supplies required for surgery. Resolve usage conflict with appropriate resource.

  • Receive distribute and prepare implants and related supplies for surgery.

  • Check all items for expiration dates before hand-off to OR.

  • Use in-depth product knowledge to clarify needs and determine product availability from vendors and assists the OR Buyers. When applicable relay information about product substitutions to surgeons and RN3s.

  • Troubleshoot problems regarding availability of implants and related supplies. Work with RN3s to identify substitute for backordered products. Inform surgeons and RN3s of implant unavailability.

  • Replenish implant trays after surgery and forward them CSPD for sterilization. Borrow implants and supplies from other medical centers as needed. Lend implants and supplies to other hospitals and tracks return to NWH. Perform immediate use steam sterilization as needed.

  • Review and reconcile documented usage in EPIC to reorder products and submit Bill-Only requisitions for per-case usage and maintain good record keeping of submitted requisitions and PO requests.

  • Demonstrated ability to use EPIC HEMM eProcessing TrackCore Settrax RASMAS Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.

  • Working knowledge of surgery departments overall daily operational processes surgical procedures and in-depth surgery product knowledge. Ability to decipher and interpret the surgical schedule identify related surgical products and purchase necessary medical supplies.

  • Knowledge of current regulatory standards related to tissue management including but not limited to The Joint Commission and the FDA.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

High School or equivalent AND two years of relevant experience in a surgical setting including surgical products equipment and procedures.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.
