About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Heating & Air Conditioning Service Technician to support residential HVAC service operations throughout the Des Moines Metropolitan Area. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys diagnosing and resolving HVAC system issues interacting directly with homeowners and delivering high-quality customer service in the field.
The technician will primarily handle residential service calls involving heating cooling and ventilation systems while also supporting preventive maintenance and emergency service needs. Most work will be performed at customer locations with some administrative responsibilities completed remotely.
This role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities professionalism in customer-facing environments and the ability to work independently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose troubleshoot repair and maintain residential HVAC systems including furnaces air conditioners heat pumps and related equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and recommend necessary repairs or system improvements.
Identify electrical mechanical airflow and refrigerant-related issues accurately and efficiently.
Complete detailed service documentation work orders and reports in a timely manner.
Communicate findings repair recommendations and maintenance solutions clearly with customers.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with HVAC safety standards EPA regulations and local codes.
Utilize HVAC diagnostic equipment testing tools gauges and hand tools safely and effectively.
Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams regarding scheduling parts and follow-up service requirements.
Participate in after-hours and emergency on-call service rotation as required.
Maintain a professional appearance and deliver excellent customer service during all service interactions.
Key Qualifications
2 years of hands-on HVAC service and repair experience preferred.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic experience with residential HVAC systems.
Experience performing preventive maintenance and repair work on heating and cooling equipment.
EPA Certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
Working knowledge of electrical refrigeration airflow and mechanical HVAC principles.
Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Comfortable using digital service reporting systems and mobile field tools.
Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
Completion of HVAC trade school technical training apprenticeship or equivalent field experience is a plus.
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
