Job Summary: Provides support for the enterprise electronic health record (EHR). This person ensures that all Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin inpatient and ambulatory records are located within the EHR through accurate prepping scanning and indexing of medical records while meeting turnaround-times and quality and performance standards. Performs quality checks on documentation received from clinical departments. Properly cleans and maintains scanners and reports hardware and software scanning equipment problems. Provide weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled. Other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibility: -Prepares records for scanning following established corporate HIM guidelines. -Identifies external vs internal records accurately. -Identifies appropriate scan level and document type when prompted by the system. -Meets or exceeds minimum quality and productivity standards. -Scans prepped record batches using the medium or high speed interactive scanners. -Scans documentation in a timely and accurate manner. -Performs quality checks during the review process to validate the document is attached to the correct patient encounter and has a quality image. -Moves document to correct patient encounter and document type when an error has been identified. -Cleans and maintains the scanners. -Review all documents sent to the QA work queues within the document management systems for accuracy and completeness before releasing to Epic. -Perform quality checks on documentation received from clinical departments. -Verifies that documents are assigned to the correct patient encounter & document type. -Assign the correct patient encounter and/or document type when an error has been identified in the document management system. -Abstract data for quality measures as defined by the corporate HIM policies and procedures. -Performs quality checks for all documentation received from clinical departments. -Assist with quality assurance auditing as needed. Assists with destruction of paper records according to corporate policies and procedures. -Performs daily pick up of paper records from the assigned hospital and clinic locations. -Adheres to corporate HIM policies and procedures as well as enterprise wide policies and procedures through out all job functions performed and assist with quality assurance auditing when requested. -Follows HIPAA state and federal guidelines and adheres to patient privacy policies. -Demonstrates excellent communication skills to work with clinical staff to identify and resolve scanning issues.
Required Skills & Experience: -Detail oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing in a fast paced environment. -Demonstrates proficient knowledge of computers and scanning equipment. -Must be able to work quickly while maintaining quality standards.
Preferred Skills & Experience: -A minimum of 1 year of Health Information Management experience. -Knowledge of medical terminology.

-High School diploma or equivalent.
