Job Description
The Administrative Assistantis responsible formanagingbuilding entryandgreetingHeadStart families andvisitors answeringphone callsandmanaging thefront desk. Prepares forms andcreates/designs flyers for programactivities;completesbasicdataentry. Monitors the flow of paperwork and files. Facilitate communication between staffand betweenthe program andHead Startfamilies.Performs a variety of administrative tasks for the department and division.Must bebilingual in Englishand Spanish.
Jefferson County Head Start is a comprehensive no-cost infant/toddler and preschool program serving kids who are 6 weeks to 5 years old in Jefferson County (excluding Lakewood). Weprovidea range of support and services for our children and families. We aim to provideequitableand inclusive services and support to the diverse community we serve.
To learn more about our preschool program: here is a crash course video! position works Monday-Friday 7:30 AM 4:00 PM in-office at the Head Start Arvada location. There are no evenings or weekends. Please note this is a year-round position.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $21.50-$23.91Hourly
Full range- 20.62 - 25.78 - 30.93 USD Hourly
Compensation will bedeterminedbased on educationandexperience.
*Bilingual Spanishproficiencyis an incredible asset to this team and will be offered a pay differentialof $3120 annuallyupon completion of communication skill test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Sit at thefront deskto greet visitors and manage secure building entry; answer and route phone calls to theappropriateindividual. Communicate program information tocurrent and potentialHead Start families. Receives mail documentsand packages. Orders supplies and requests maintenance.
Maintains positive relationships withHeadStart familiesandstaff members. Coordinates staff meetings and serves as meeting recorder.Maintainspositive public image for department and division.
Performs administrative tasks in support of the department and division including producing reportscreatingandmaintainingdocumentsdata entryand completing projects. Ensures all providedmaterialisaccurate. Prepares supplies and materials for staff usage.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:1year of work-related or volunteer-related experience.
Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
Preferred KnowledgeSkillsand Abilities:
More than three (3) years of customer service experience is highly preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Detail-oriented and experience with data entry and financial tracking
Positive Attitude
Being a reliable team player who is flexible/adaptable.
Basic math skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Passionate about the education of young children

Must obtain physical examination and tuberculosis test at hire.
A valid Colorado drivers license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer for every position.
Willingness to occasionally travel to assigned Head Start Sites (Arvada Wheat Ridge and Lakewood).
