Job Summary

Salary: Teacher Salary Schedule plus $2000 supplementJob Summary:Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services the FLEX (Flexible Learning Experience) program Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership and personalized support for students assigned to the FLEX program. The Lead Teacher creates a structured supportive and relationship-centered learning environment focused on academic achievement attendance improvement behavioral growth and successful student transitions back to the home school setting. The teacher collaborates with students families school administrators counselors and support personnel to remove barriers to student success while promoting positive student :Required QualificationsValid South Carolina secondary teaching certification in any content areaExperience working with at-risk students alternative education settings or behavior intervention programs preferredStrong classroom management and relationship-building skillsKnowledge of MTSS restorative practices differentiated instruction and trauma-informed practicesStrong communication collaboration and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with families school personnel and community stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsSpecial Education certification preferred not requiredExperience using APEX Schoology PowerSchool and other instructional technology platformsExperience supporting students with attendance behavioral academic and social-emotional needsPerformance Responsibilities:Instruction & Academic SupportFacilitate individualized standards-based instruction for students in grades 612 enrolled in the FLEX and monitor student coursework through APEX Schoology district instructional platforms and direct communication with home school instructional support and interventions to help students achieve academic success and meet graduation and monitor personalized student goals related to academics attendance behavior and social-emotional students in developing organizational skills self-management and responsible Support & Program CoordinationBuild positive relationships with students through mentorship encouragement advocacy and consistent in student intake progress monitoring transition and reentry student attendance and maintain accurate records using PowerSchool and district with school administrators counselors teachers and support staff to ensure student accommodations and supports for students with IEPs 504 Plans health plans or individualized student students in developing strategies to improve attendance behavior and academic successful student transitions back to the home school environment or to other placements as determined by the student support & Stakeholder CommunicationMaintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress attendance behavior and academic collaborative relationships with families to reinforce student goals and success bi-weekly progress monitoring updates to with district personnel and community agencies when appropriate to support student Environment & Student CultureFoster a safe structured respectful and supportive learning district expectations school rules and student code of conduct professionalism positive relationship-building and restorative student accountability engagement and personal a culture of care belonging dignity and respect for all Knowledge / SkillsKnowledge of adolescent development and student behavior supportsAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writingAbility to build positive relationships with students families and staffAbility to manage multiple student plans records and responsibilitiesStrong problem-solving and organizational skillsKnowledge and effective use of instructional technology and online learning platformsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situationsPerformance ExpectationsSuccess in this position may be measured by:Student academic progressStudent attendance improvementStudent behavioral growthStudent engagementSuccessful student transitionsFamily engagement and communicationPositive collaboration with school and district stakeholdersPhysical RequirementsAbility to supervise students throughout the school dayAbility to move throughout classrooms and campus settingsAbility to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment as neededThe job of a FLEX Lead Teacher involves adapting to a changing educational environment and therefore while accurate this list is not exhaustive.
