MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician with strong HVAC experience to support operations at an industrial client site. Position Overview
The Facilities Technician will be responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems within an industrial facility environment. This role focuses heavily on preventative maintenance diagnostics and repairs while supporting overall building operations and maintaining a safe efficient workplace.
The ideal candidate will have strong HVAC technical knowledge EPA certification and experience working directly with clients in an occupied industrial setting.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical electrical and control system issues
Service equipment including rooftop units air handlers chillers boilers VAV systems and related components
Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS)
Replace filters belts motors and other HVAC components as needed
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and complete work orders in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with EPA standards and safety regulations related to refrigerant handling
Support general facilities maintenance tasks including basic plumbing lighting and electrical work
Coordinate with vendors and contractors when required
Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed
Required Qualifications
EPA Certification required
Minimum of 3 years of industrial HVAC or facilities maintenance experience
Experience working directly with clients onsite in an occupied facility environment
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to HVAC systems
Working knowledge of HVAC controls and building automation systems
Ability to safely use diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment
Must possess and wear steel-toed boots
Ability to occasionally wear PAPRs (Powered Air-Purifying Respirators)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in mechanical rooms rooftops and industrial environments
Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions
Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Trade school certification or HVAC technical degree
Experience with industrial mechanical systems
Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Siemens Johnson Controls or Tridium
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Experience using CMMS/work order systems
