Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Database Analyst is responsible for the administration maintenance and optimization of Oracle database environments ensuring high availability and performance through proactive monitoring indexing and query optimization. This role involves cloning exporting and importing databases schemas and software code repositories as well as executing backups and restore procedures to safeguard data integrity and business continuity. The analyst manages Banner ERP (Ellucian) software upgrades and patches along with database server updates ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations and security policies. Additional responsibilities include administering ERP application servers (e.g. Apache Tomcat) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) leveraging Oracle Enterprise Manager for performance monitoring diagnostics and lifecycle management. Additional responsibilities include creating and maintaining technical documentation as well as supporting data warehouse and Operational Data Store (ODS) maintenance to enable reporting and analytical capabilities across the institution. The analyst is also responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation troubleshooting database-related incidents and collaborating with IT teams and NMSU departments to align database solutions with ongoing institutional needs.

Required Education and Experience:
Associates Degree 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree 2 years of relevant experience.

Equivalent Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Oracle Database (19c) including PL/SQL development.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms preferably Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Automatic Storage Management and Oracle Multi-tenant.
- Strong understanding of relational database design normalization and data modeling.
- Experience with performance tuning indexing strategies and query optimization.
- Familiarity with database backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python PowerShell or Bash for database automation.

- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner modules and Banner upgrade methodology.
- Experience with cloud database services on OCI AWS RDS or Azure SQL.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.
- Working experience with Microsoft SQL Server MySQL and PostgreSQL.
