Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to lead the execution of capital projects ranging from $1M to $40M across aluminum extrusion fabrication and billet casting operations.
This role is responsible for electrical power and controls engineering across the full project lifecycle including design specification installation commissioning startup and troubleshooting. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with plant operations maintenance teams contractors and external engineering partners to ensure safe reliable and efficient equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities Capital Project Execution
Lead electrical engineering efforts for capital projects from concept through completion.
Manage project scope schedule and budget to ensure successful delivery.
Support the organizations structured engineering execution (PESHA or equivalent process).
Oversee installation commissioning and startup of industrial equipment.
Electrical Engineering & Design
Design and specify electrical power and control systems primarily 480VAC industrial systems.
Perform engineering calculations equipment selection and technical evaluations.
Review contractor proposals drawings and technical documentation.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and safety standards (NEC NFPA 70E).
Automation & Controls
Support PLC HMI and SCADA systems (Rockwell Automation preferred).
Collaborate on control system integration upgrades and troubleshooting.
Ensure proper functionality of motor control centers (MCCs) VFDs and related systems.
Construction & Contractor Management
Manage contractors to ensure safe and efficient field execution.
Coordinate with internal teams suppliers and external engineering partners.
Conduct site visits including hands-on troubleshooting and equipment inspections.
Support mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and combustion system integration as needed.
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
Ensure equipment reliability safety and performance standards are met.
Identify and implement improvements to enhance productivity and system efficiency.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical and controls issues.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience managing capital projects from design through commissioning.
Strong background in electrical power and controls engineering (480VAC systems).
Hands-on experience with PLC HMI and SCADA systems (Rockwell preferred).
Experience installing and commissioning industrial or mill-grade equipment.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aluminum extrusion casting fabrication or heavy industry.
Knowledge of combustion hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with MCCs VFDs and industrial automation systems.
Strong understanding of NFPA 70E NEC and electrical safety standards.
Experience working with contractors in large-scale capital projects.
Strong experience in industrial electrical engineering and capital project delivery
Proven ability to manage complex multi-million-dollar engineering projects
Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA-controlled manufacturing systems
Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and industrial controls
Ability to work in plant environments and support hands-on troubleshooting
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
