This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week or as otherwise determined by the hiring leader.

About the Role:
At General Motors were redefining the future of mobilityand that starts with how we design and engineer our vehicles. We are seeking motivated forward-thinking Design Release Engineers to help shape the next generation of vehicle structures.
In this role youll have end-to-end ownership of components within Body/Chassis structures driving design development validation and launch across the full vehicle lifecycle. Youll work on highly visible programs partnering cross-functionally to deliver innovative high-quality solutions that meet performance cost and timing targets.

What Youll Do
Own the design release and execution of body/chassis structure components from concept through production
Lead technical development for components and/or new technologies within vehicle programs
Drive engineering decisions by balancing performance cost weight and timing
Conduct design analysis and validate designs through testing and development activities
Collaborate cross-functionally with design studio manufacturing purchasing quality and suppliers
Support prototype builds vehicle integration and production launch activities
Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities
Ensure components meet GM technical standards safety requirements and quality expectations
Communicate complex technical topics clearly to leadership and stakeholders
What Were Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or related field
2 years of engineering experience in product development or design
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Body/Chassis structure components or related systems
Knowledge of DFMEA GD&T and Design for Six Sigma methodologies
Familiarity with advanced materials (e.g. high-strength steel alloys) and manufacturing processes
Understanding of FMVSS crash and regulatory requirements
Strong problem-solving communication and project management skills
