The Construction Manager provides technical field assistance regarding the methods and procedures for installation of the CECO supplied equipment. Advises and assists on-site equipment receiving inspections handling and storage preservation initial pre-erection component staging guides erector with proper construction sequence and techniques to install supplied equipment performs mechanical completion inspections creates punch list of any discrepancies root cause mechanical problems and finds proper solution(s). Manages site contractors reviews timesheets resolves site disputes and back charges through proper investigation and analysis. Perform all other activities to ensure that the final installation meets Company and industry quality standards ready to meet client performance warranties on time and within budget.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Complete an OSHA 10 Hour Construction certification course and/ or other requisites per client site requirements to allow access to job sites.
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as B31.1 B31.3 ASME Sec V welding acceptance criteria AWS D1.1 geometrical tolerances AISC code at minimum.
  • Attend regularly scheduled construction/commissioning meetings at the facility site as reasonably requested by the customer.
  • Confer with construction and commissioning personnel regarding plans objectives and procedures. Make recommendations for work process improvements when inefficient methods are observed by the field director with proper reasoning.
  • Observe site storage conditions and provide recommendations as required
  • Provide any necessary interpretation of CECO provided technical documents including providing clarifications regarding unclear documentation and / or missing information.
  • Consult on loading/unloading and transferring the major components or any components requiring special handling from trucks or heavy haul vehicles.
  • Provides consultation on methods statements and procedures to perform installation of the work.
  • Observe the assembly clearances alignment fit up and cleanliness of the work and advise Buyer of any observed errors and / or omissions.
  • Observe the work during start up verifying that preoperational checkout activities have been completed and inform buyer in a timely manner of any observed errors and / or omissions.
  • Observe work practices and procedures of the installation and commissioning personnel to ascertain that the erection manual or documents provided by CECO is being followed or if any potentially unsafe conditions exist as it relates to the work.
  • Inspect the work before start-up verify that preoperational checkout and testing activities have been completed and inform buyer of any observed errors and or omissions.
  • Coordinate the resolution of any issue associated with non-compliant work inclusive of in-process inspections on the corrective action as may be required.
  • Determine as and when needed to arrange for suppliers TFA or sub supplier TFA to provide technical services for their scope of work with minimal use of their TFA time but without adding risk to CECO.
  • Provide written responses to Customer or erector or end user request for information within a timely manner with proper investigation of the issue and consultation with PM Engineering Quality as needed.
  • Provide daily reports to customer of all observed work and status of open request for information work accomplished and issues if any.
  • Provide timesheets for approval by Customers designated site representative on a weekly basis on the day specified by the client/customer and ensure information is passed on to Project Manager for billing if applicable.
  • Comply with all customers written site regulations including but not limited to safety.
  • Learn and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the Companys product engineering and service capabilities manufacturing and quality standards as he / she represents CECO as field expert.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customers requirements. Establishes and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the industry and competitive practices as they relate to multiple markets.
  • Maintains an active and thoughtful communication pattern with internal and external customers balancing/prioritizing time versus benefit such that these efforts reflect an anticipated return. (i.e. revenue growth and customer retention).
  • Responds proactively to external customer requests or concerns in a manner that builds trust and confidence not only with the customer but also with colleagues within the Company who are partners in the problem-solving process (sales engineering manufacturing etc.).
  • Promptly identifies scope changes evaluates total impact and implements change order acceptance.
  • Perform onsite Construction Management activities such as - ensure construction conformance for setting of structural steel steel casing exhaust stack breech casing skids piping and supports.
  • Observe all aspects of the HRSG installation attend site construction meetings documenting of daily reports inspection RFIs non-conformance issues construction completion review creation of mechanical and instrumentation punch lists job site scheduling & lead the crew.
  • Resolves all back charges and warranty claims through effective research analysis problem solving dispute resolution and negotiation techniques such that the customer remains satisfied yet any expense to the Company is minimized.
  • Maintains an active presence on the shop floor or in the field as a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Maintains active contact with other departments that is positive and supportive of that groups planning and budget objectives; ensures communication with customers and/or other team members is conducted in a manner that builds trust and leads to efficient and effective problem resolution.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or construction management or minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in fabrication quality or industrial manufacturing or industrial construction.
  • One (1) year of demonstrated success in the achievement of construction management objectives within a Power plant or a Refinery Construction environment (minimum five (5) years for construction manager II or ten (10) years for construction manager III).
  • Experience with HRSG construction preferred.
  • Strong construction technical fabrication and quality acumen as well as a general knowledge of construction codes and practices.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in office packages (i.e. MS Word MS Excel) and ability to read and create project schedules.

ADA REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this function typically require typing sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts electrical currents vibrations fumes odors dusts gases poor ventilation chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions intense noises and travel.
