We are seeking an experienced Construction Law Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to work closely with public-sector clients on significant capital construction projects while gaining hands-on responsibility direct client interaction and exposure to all phases of project development and administration.
In this role you will advise school districts and public entities on a broad range of construction-related matters from contract drafting and procurement through project administration dispute resolution and project closeout. You will become a trusted advisor to clients while working alongside experienced attorneys in a supportive and team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel to school districts and public-sector clients on capital construction projects.
Draft review and negotiate architect agreements construction management contracts and other project-related documents.
Assist with the preparation and review of bid documents and procurement materials.
Advise clients regarding bid evaluations contract awards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Support clients throughout the construction process including project administration and contract management.
Assist with project closeout matters and post-construction issues.
Analyze and resolve construction-related disputes and claims.
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda opinions and other legal documents.
Communicate directly with clients consultants contractors and project stakeholders.
Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver practical strategic and client-focused solutions.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the New York State Bar.
Minimum of 3 years of construction law experience.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and project administration.
Familiarity with AIA Contract Documents.
Excellent legal research drafting and writing skills.
Strong verbal communication and client counseling abilities.
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
