Job Title: Construction Observation Representative
Location: South Florida

Department: Civil Engineering
Reports To: Project Manager/Lead Engineer


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Observation Representative to join our team in South Florida. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our civil engineering projects (which primarily consist of water sewer stormwater paving and grading) are constructed according to design specifications project plans schedules and quality standards. This position requires excellent observational communication and problem-solving skills with a strong background in civil engineering projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Site Observation: Conduct daily site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with design plans specifications and applicable codes and regulations.


Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of site activities observations and progress including daily logs photographs and reports.


Quality Assurance: Verify that materials and workmanship meet project standards and specifications. Identify and report any deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly.


Coordination: Collaborate with contractors subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Facilitate communication and resolution of any on-site issues.


Inspection: Perform inspections of construction activities including grading drainage paving utility installation and structural elements to ensure conformance with project plans.


Safety Compliance: Monitor site safety practices and ensure adherence to company and regulatory safety standards. Address any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.


Change Management: Identify potential changes to project scope or design. Communicate these changes to the project manager and assist in evaluating their impact on the project.


Reporting: Prepare and submit daily weekly & monthly progress reports to the project manager highlighting any critical issues delays or deviations from the project schedule.


Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain positive relationships with clients contractors and other stakeholders. Address questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.



Working Conditions:


Frequent site visits and outdoor work including exposure to various weather conditions.

Ability to walk climb and navigate construction sites safely.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

Requirements


Qualifications:


High School Diploma - Required.


Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field Preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction observation or construction management for civil engineering projects.


Strong understanding of construction methods materials and standards particularly in civil engineering.

Familiarity with local state and federal construction regulations and codes especially those applicable to South Florida.

Excellent observational analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in construction management software and tools.

Certification in construction inspection or quality control is a plus.

Valid drivers license and ability to travel to various project sites within South Florida.
